Curtains

When we moved Owen into the bigger bedroom and decided to paint it, the ugly old vertical blinds that my parents thought were so stylish in the 90's just weren't doing the job any more. So for about a year while I had been looking for the right fabric, Owen was subjected to an old sheet held by thumb-tacks as his window covering; needless to say, I was pretty happy when I went to Ikea and found the perfect fabric, and also picked up the accessories (rod, brackets, rings) , all for about $30.00!

Because I know the pain of sewing panel curtains with pockets for the rod and having them be a HUGE pain in the ass to open/close, I used a great tutorial on sewing the perfect edge all the way around each panel, and  took the advise in the how to make easy curtains and used curtain rings with clips to attach them to the rod -- well worth the extra $6 in clips!

The whole project, including mounting the rod/brackets & trying to figure out my parent's damn iron, took me about 3 hours, so by the time I was done, it was past Owen's bedtime, so I only took a quick Instagram photo (below), but try to take a couple more tonight.

I'm really happy with how they turned out... and Owen loves them so I guess that's a big win!
